Does your Mitsubishi L300 make a strange noise? Need wheel alignment specs?

P24 (gas engine) vs P25/P35 (diesel)

Post by thelazybrownfox »

Hey Guys
Anyone driving the delica gas version? I'd appreciate hearing about the gas engine, fuel mileage, reliability and amount of H.P. compared to the diesel. Is the P24 a 2 wheel drive or a 4X4??
Thanks Wayne

Hi, I've driven a gas one and can say that I only bring in Diesels, but I am looking at Delica's as an enviromentalist's vehicle with the bio diesel and wvo options.
the gas engine does have more pick up off the start but none of these are competing with the skyline..... gas is available everywhere, Diesel goes ALOT further on the fuel.
it's apples and oranges. for me the diesel is the only way to go, if your going with gas engine you could easily get a westFAILia for cheap and with the money you save going that route you could easly join the second and third engine club for a westFAILia.... sorry, Ya I'm biased....

I vote GO DIESEL :-D

Gas + Westie = engine fire. Visit a wrecker with some VW vans to confirm this, and did I mention we are huge Westie fans in this household. Still plan to buy a perfect, redone 70's Westie and convert it to diesel. It's my sweeties dream ride.

It may be a little late, but I have a gaser/petrol. Mine is a US spec 2wd, so the figures may not be completely relevant. I get about 18 city and 20 highway. With the 14 gallon standard tank I usually will go about 240 miles between fill ups.

As for performance, it will out accelerate most 4 cylinder automatic compact cars. I had it an indicated 105, probably 95 actual. I would not recommend that. It will cruise all day at a GPS verified 75-80.

Compared to the diesel vehicles I have driven it feels like a sports car:) . With said, unless you live in a very cold area (gelling is bad), go for the diesel. It should give better economy and the greater torque off idle is great off-road.
