Hello on and all, hope stupid americans (usa) can join here. I do diesel conversions down here on monteros, gen 1 (pajeros), and fell in love with the delica while shopping for engines. I recently was able to" import" one down here, and am now tinkering with it. It was recommended by a canadian that I join this board, so here I am. Please don't hate me, I did not vote for George bush.....

what ever happened to this guy? I have yet to see any other Delicas floating around the states that are US registered. Would be nice to meet someone down here that has one too.

You have one of the only legally registered Delica's in the United States, that is why so few posts. In fact, I know you have the only legally registered one in the entire state of Washington!

I bet that there will be lots of people on here once the 25 year rule is up. You will notice that there are lots of people from the US who posted here and don't post any longer as they could not get Delicas imported.

The onslaught should already have begun: third-generation Delicas (Star Wagon and the like) were produced from 1986 onwards, so as of today a 'brand-new' 1988 manufactured-in-January model should be perfectly acceptable in America.

And considering some of us started out with one of that vintage (myself, it was a '91), I should think there would be some south of the border who would be trawling our left-overs and moved-ons for a piece of 4x4'ing heaven of their own.

Probably; but I would guess not many. WS Skoo B is the first in the state of Washington, and given the shared border with BC this state gets the highest visibility.

But, I think you are correct. The flood is about to begin soon.

Do you know the build date?

It should be legal in the US in 2014.

I think you have a few more years. I'm in Portland, OR and have explored a few loopholes like so many but decided to go the long, legal route. It's taken me about 9 months and a comprehensive system of monitoring the different international classifieds to find a US legal Deli. It's done though. Just bought a 1987. En route from New Zealand.

There aren't many '86 - '89 Delis out there anymore. I came across less than 5 that I could have legally brought in and most were in poor shape. I've heard a few shops that are "stocking up" on some early 90's...getting ready for the US market. Not sure if its true.

There are a lot of good ones available in Canada - Firesong has one as you can see. I don't know if I would trust him though, seeing as he is from Saskatoon...

What you will start to see is all the Deli's that are in Canada that are now legal in the US will start to come down here because it is easier to sell them in the US than it is in Canada, and you can get more money for them in the US because they are harder to obtain.

I don't believe any shops are stocking up on any though - there is too big of a market now to sell them around the world.
