water in fuel gauge anyone?

Does your Mitsubishi L300 make a strange noise? Need wheel alignment specs?

water in fuel gauge anyone?

just wondering after noticing a wire that goes from the bottom of the fuel filter to i'm not sure were, i'm asuming a sensor of some sort for detecting water in fuel, i wanted to know if there is an indicator light that comes on the dashboard somewere when there is water in the fuel or if you just undo that plug at the bottom of the fuel filter to drain out some fluid once a week or something.... i know that on toyota ace vans, a light comes on to tell you when to drain water out of your filter but haven't seen or heard of one on delicas yet .....

Typically water sensors are wired into the glow plug dash light.
If you fuel up at the end of the day when your tank is warm you will get less condensation in your fuel.

The water warning light is between the parking bake light and AT temp light - looks sort off like a half full can with a pipe out either side.

thanks James, i thought that was that light was for, just wasn't sure, it never came on since i had the van which i guess is a good sign, but if it did, what do you do, unscrew that drain valve at the bottom of the fuel filter? and if so, is it just water that comes out, and you let it drain out completely or is diesel gonna drain out as well? does it affect fuel pressure, or you just close the valve and carry on? sorry if my questions sound stupid, but i like to be thourough so i get stuff done right...

When the water light comes on then comes the fun part. Basically you have it right - open the valve on the bottom of the filter and let the water flow out. Just open it enough to get it flowing. When fuel starts coming out then close the valve. With any luck, no air will have gotten into the system. :? If air gets in the system the van probably won't run. To get the air out the pump has to be primed manually. On top of the fuel filter housing is the priming pump. The bleeder valve is the small bolt to the right of the fuel lines looking from the front of the engine. Crack the bleeder valve and pump the primer until all the bubbles blow out then close it. It should be ready to go. This is the same procedure as if you run out of fuel.

This is common for most diesels to have some kind of manual pump.
