Looking for a roof rack for our Delica
We are looking for a ready made roof rack for our Delica. We will be embarking on a cross country trip in mid-December and would like to be able to find one that is sturdy and more like a cage, than a rail system. I've looked through a lot of the threads but mostly what I'm seeing is custom builds, which look great. However, we are in the midst of converting to WVO and are doing other things to ready ourselves for this trip. The roof rack is something I'd spend some money on right now. Thx. We have a 1994 L400 Space Gear Exceed

Re: Looking for a roof rack for our Delica
Hello Sandra,
I still have lost1's homemade roofrack but i am not planning on using it anymore (I now have a pop top instead). It is starting to rust but still has its full structural integrity. It was designed for a L300, so would probably need some modifications to fit on a L400.
The problem for you is that I live on the east coast. I doubt freight fees would worth the buy, but if you pass by. I am willing to sell it for a piece of bread...
Davy
p.s. you can have a look at what it use to look like on these travel pictures from lost1

As it turns out, I'm a novice artisan bread maker...however, I doubt it would be fresh by the time it got to you! :)))) The rack looks exactly like what we are looking for. Cleaning it up and modifying it doesn't scare us. We have a shop complete with welder, and friends with more experience in that area than us. You're right, the freight might be the gotcha...but I wonder...
Do you happen to know the approximate dimensions and weight? I could look for a freight quote from the freight broker we used to use when we shipped log homes all over the world...just might be a bit of space on a truck headed from you to us.
We have family in Fredericton...where on the east coast are you?
Thanks for thinking of us!
Sandra

Artisan bread? I make a whole wheat sourdough for our regular, everyday bread - easy and delicious and fun. Hope you get your roof rack sorted out - good luck :)

Happy Day!
