Hi everyone,
Nicole and I have just bought our 1991 delica L300 SuperExceed.
This morning we went out and she wouldn't start.
Took the batteries out and down to C-Tire. They told us that they wouldn't be able to provide us with a warranty (past 6 months) on new batteries because our van was (weird).
Went to an auto parts store and they couldn't figure out what batteries we needed.
Can you please provide me with some makes and models of batteries that will work for us ...and are not over $200 each.
how many CCAs do we need in each battery?
We have the dual battery sysytem.
Thanks...
Colin.
Battery problems...please advise.

Colin, any Group 24 battery with the highest CCA's for the best price.
That is all you need to tell the store selling you the batteries.
Preventative choice would be to have your alternator tested to make sure it's not dying. If it is, it will continue to destroy any batteries you place in there.
Battery and alternator go hand in hand. Bad batteries will kill an alternator. Bad alternator will kill batteries.
Good luck.

Thanks. I will go in tomorrow and see what I can get.
Thanks for the extra advice about the alternator. Well worth checking on.
Is there a benchmark CCA that I should be shooting for? 500 ? 600?

Re: Battery problems...please advise.
nope. CCA's are a false label. you can buy a cheap battery with 600CCA's and a very high quality battery with 350CCA's and the later will outlast and outperform the cheap one.
With batteries, it does come down to quality. You'll get all kinds of responses with different brand recommendations. A good, dependable battery that will last and more importantly, take a lot of abuse, costs on average $150-200/per. There's hundreds of exceptions,etc.. since you have two, you can get $100 batteries from CDN tire or wallmart,etc...
My recommendation would be to buy from an actual battery store (Edmunds in Burnaby for example) as their warranty should go with the battery and not the type of vehicle it is in (like big box store).

Re: Battery problems...please advise.
I just replaced my battery with a single battery. Part # DT3478AG7 from Napa. Fits great and it handles the load no problem.
Good luck.
