L400 Super Exceed has Yellow C/D light flashing

Tried to put L400 into 4wd and now C/D light is flashing and won't go off. The dashboard indicator never indicated all wheels engaged with 4 tires lite up green.

one of two things

either the sensor is sticking in which case you need to 'massage' it by putting it through all the 4WD gears on/off/on/off

or

vacuum solenoid (one or both) are dead/dying and need to be replaced
