So for those who haven't read my posts on the WVO/veggie section, I wrecked my van just before mothers just outside Princeton recently.
Im looking for a way to tow it back to Mission. The trailer I previously thought would be good is no longer an option.
So im now considering a tow dolly or a towing bar.
As you can see in the pictures on the other thread, the front end isnt exactly that beautiful anymore. What about putting holes through the body to attach the towing bar chains through?
Its this or a tow dolly.
Wheres the best place to rent these things? Anyone got one I could borrow for a day? I have a towing bar, but a dolly would be much nicer.
The front wheels look aligned still but if they're not then I guess a flatbed and a 3/4 ton truck is the only way.,,
This sucks! They're charging me for storage everyday I don't move the wreck at a towing yard in Princeton. I just want to get it out of there and pull the engine to get going again in another Delica.
Thanks, Duncan

If you've got access to a truck a UHAUL car trailer is pretty cheap to rent for 24 hours. They used to be about $ 75, I'm not sure what they are now. You are one lucky dude to still be walking around on this side of the grass!!

So, due to finances and time constraints (the usual kind of crap that influences people to make bad decisions)...
I'll be renting a tow dolly tommorow, disconnecting the drive shaft at the rear and trying to make it to Mission using a 4 litre B series Mazda truck with a camper on the back. Give me a wave if you see me on the highway! This is so cowboy yeeeha
Will be reporting back here soon hopefully with some parts to sell!

Re: Towing the wreck back to Vancouver
hope your insurance didnt get cancelled after the accident because you need insurance on the towed vehicle if you have any of its wheels on the ground while towing. so using a tow dolly means the delica will have to be insured.
you sure the mazda can handle a camper and hauling the delica over the hills? I am not sure it has the proper tow rating?

Re: Towing the wreck back to Vancouver
Made it to safety after one hell of a tow! Not the most legitimate operation ever but I had no choice, I was getting charged by the day by the towing people and would have had to give them my van or tow it with the B4000. Nothing to be proud of though...
Let me know if any of you guys need any parts. Im breaking it in Mission, and planning on just keeping the engine and veggie kit for myself...
Will consider trades. Anyone got an old beta I can get up and down the island with till I find a new van?
My deli may not look so good from the front but the underneath she is a real charmer. Tidy from the day I bought her in November last year. Coombs said they never see them looking that good underneath... Send a PM if you wanna make an offer on anything...
Happy Tuesday! Another beautiful day to be alive!
