Yet another travel problem

Well I dropped my remote in salt water and now it doesn't work. That in and of itself isn't a big deal as I can replace it when I'm home but now my van is immobilized and won't start. The manual says to press "override" once to turn off immobilizer mode but this doesn't seem to be working. Short of tearing everything out how do I get the van started?

Solved! The override for the entire alarm system did work. Now I can alarm it manually if I'm in a bad neighborhood but probably won't otherwise. The moral of the story is not to forget your spare fob at home!

That is EXACTLY why I didn't have the immobilizer connected up on the alarm system I had installed. I opted for a different tactic...

I don't regret having the immobilizer installed, it's nice to know someone can't just get in and start the vehicle. I also use a club and have the alarm so I feel pretty safe. It was more my stupidity of leaving that extra fob at home that caused problems. I'm going to see if I can have a different one programmed to work with this system.

Instead of an immobilizer when I go to sketchy areas I just put on a pair of super ultra extra absorbant adult accident underpants and siphon all my diesel into my underpants. That way noone can start my van and make a getaway. When its time to go home just drop trousers and squeeze the diesel back into the tank. EZ.

That made me laugh out loud. Seems like such a brilliant idea. Kind of sad that you only have enough diesel in there to fill one pair of acci-pants. You know, you could just leave a pair on the driver seat and say smear a Peanut Buster Parfait on them and I bet nobody would really want to take your van as well. Just an alternative method. I just clicked the "LIKE" button... or maybe it was the "Report this post" button. Whatever, made me laugh.

That's essentially the same thing as what I have but with a delay if I understand correctly. The shut off switch allows the van to drive about 5km before it stops running in the event that you are held up and your vehicle is taken. Since this isn't really a concern of mine I think stopping it from being started is just fine.

I think I'd need to be a much larger person to accomodate diapers big enough to hold a tank of diesel!
