Sunroof problems L400

Post by Doug Colson »

My sunroof is difficult to open and close with out helping it. I have opened the roof panels and motor assembly and found the the drive screw cable has delaminated. There is a plastics coating on the wire and it has broken off. Can you get replacement cabels?
Any suggestion?
Thanks

It is actually a really common problem. They jam and wear out a lot. You can find replacement parts at a wreckers.

It always helps to know that there is a manual close function under the light switch dome - you need a hex wrench to turn it.

One of the fixes in the UK that is common is to take the little gear that turns the sunroof bits and flip it upside down so the less worn contact points are driving the track. Short of that, the only solution is replacement parts as far as I know.

Also, never operate the roof when going above about 30 km/h. The extra pressure of the windspeed on it will set the track off and cause more problems. Won't happen always, but it is sure to shorten the life of the moving parts.

Thanks for the info. I will try the gear flip. There are only a few l400 here in Nova Scotia. The wreckers don't have any Delicas here yet. I will have to contact some one on the west coast for parts.

I drilled a small hole in the light cover and I can slide a t-handle up into the assembly and open and close the sunroof manually. I hope to fix it soon.
Thanks again.

I have a sunroof assembly from a 92 pajero, the drive motor, cables and assembly. Let me know and I can have it in the mail for you this week. 50.00 plus shipping sound ok?

Good day.
Does the 92 Pajaro sunroof have interchangeable parts with a 96 L400.
If it is the same setup it sounds like you may beagle to help me.
Thanks Doug
