Cheap-ish Truck or Van wanted

Post by BCDelica »

Hello!!

Would anyone be able to recommend, or know, someone selling a used and affordable Van, or Truck, for sale? Vancouver Island or the Lower mainland are locations we will be.

My son and I have moved back to BC, and with only X amount of cash to my name do not want to spend a proper amount of money on a vehicle until I'm working! Besides my son just turned 16, so the vehicle will not only be something to get us moving, but be something for him to drive.

Currently we are visiting in the Comox valley, and beside being done looking at the silly overpriced used vehicles at the dealerships, we are browsing the classified listed vehicles and few have been a good match. Though my son does like the 10 year old Pontiac Sunfires that are available for just over $2000, they do not quite have the room we want. Not wanting to spend more than $3000, we have been looking at vehicles ranging between $1500 to $2500.

If anybody is interested, a good trade for a 1992 Nissan Figaro would be considered. I bought this cute car of my mother before leaving Canada, and it has been extremely well maintained mechanically with the full service history available. All work done at Reids in Courtenay. She wanted us to have it now, but this is not a car you use to move with!! It drives and runs flawlessly. But it needs some TLC to both drivers doors. In Burnaby we had quote from a 'Dent King' on site touch up guy, to repair the doors for roughly $500. But I'm aware this is not a full professional body shop repair, but the car was intended to be a driver not a collectable. Radio is disconnected currently. It has 150,000 km's.

Any help at all is greatly appreciated!!

Thank you,
Kevin

Hi Kevin, Welcome HOME! So good to have you back!

We at Tardis World are happy to offer you anything. A place to stay at our cozy little home in Burnaby (guest room has a queen bed, living room has a sofa, basement has useful tools for a fixer-upper vehicle, back yard for repairs), with a landline phone for unlimited phone calls. Borrow Jay's big chevy van if you are moving stuff. Buy my original 1991 L300, runs perfectly but has 240,000 km on (I just bought another L300 1997 with 97,000 km). Use our address as a mailing address, come for dinner, or just use the shower if you're driving through.

There is a Delica meet this Saturday 11-4, at Mundy Park in Coquitlam, CVI is doing their annual learning day and BBQ. If you want to walk on the ferry I can pick you up in Horseshoe Bay (Friday night best, or early Saturday). The guest bed is all ready.

As for the sunfire, don't, cheap construction and rust. Sure they look cute, sure they run fast, sure they have been abused by speeding guys. If you see anything advertised locally, I am happy to go look at it to see if it something you even want to bother looking at. Since you're in Comox, did you ask Glen at Coombs www.ccautos.ca, his dad Graham answers the phone, they might hear of something.

Cheers, Christine and Jay. PS I will PM you our contact info, please keep in touch. Christine.
