L400 stalling

My 1994 L400 has started stalling within a few minutes after starting. It lets out a big puff of smoke when it restarts and then it runs fine. I'm thinking that the seal on the fuel pump is going. I took it into Japanoid and they said there was no oil in the fuel filter so it was not the fuel pump seal. They convinced me to go with an injector and fuel line cleaning. 2 days after I got it back from Japanoid it will turn over but it won't run.
Does anybody know if there is a way to check the fuel pump without having it removed?
And has anybody else had problems with Japanoid? They put in a new fuel filter and new air filter. both had less than 20k km on them and I had checked the air filter a month before and it was fine. I run deisel kleene with a cetane boost every other tank
I have a set of white running boards and bumpers free to a good home. There is a little bit of rust and a small dent in the rear bumper but they are in good shape.
