L300 values
Over Xmas my bud rolled a friend's 91 L300 exceed, and ICBC subsequently wrote it off. His friend recently got a payout for it, and was handed a cheque for 8 grand. His van was nothing special and had 200K on it. I always thought ICBC was more likely to stiff you than to overpay, yet there it is. Doesn't that seem high?

Really? I watch usedvictoria for parts, and I've seen them listed for below 5. I guess those are the "special" ones for the right person?

Re: L300 values
ICBC often pays out at the slightly high end on write offs. It ends things on the spot - it costs them time (and money) when things start to get complicated. I know there are exceptions, but I have noticed that most people are pleasantly surprised by their payouts.
I wish my van could get written off as it sits in my driveway waiting for repairs. . . .
