Flo Pro Mufflers

Post by prairiefire »

I was wondering if anyone has experience using them. I was looking to replace my existing muffler with one of these.

http://www.flopro.com/original.html

I was thinking of cutting out the original and going with a 2 1/2 muffler (in and out) and side exit pipe. My old one has no holes and I'm hoping this would be a cheap performance gain. I would love to get a Muffler Tech mandrel bend or one of Laurentiu custom SS ones but I can't afford either at the moment. I'm looking at rebuilding my IP pump next week. :-(
Hopefully this would be worth the money (less than $200) to get a little more out of the van. Is it that much better to go 2 1/2" from the flange all the way back or can get away with just welding in a less restrictive muffler.

Any advice would be appreciated.

thanks

Due to the overwhelming responses I've changed my mind about a Flo Pro muffler.
I've ordered a Magnaflow 14615 instead.

So here's what I ended up with. Took? Joe and his staff at Muffler man in Burnaby around an hour to complete.

Looks good! Does it bang against the frame when you turn it off?

Thanks Nick. I'm happy with it. Good eye too. I never even noticed how close it was to the body. It doesn't hit or rub but I'll know to keep an eye on it. I should of done this year's ago. My EGT's have dropped by almost 100 degrees. :-)

With a longer muffler like that, they need to bend the pipe so it comes close the the frame. Mine makes a nice loud bang whenever I turn off the van so I was curious if yours did the same.
