tortion bar tutorial

ok, its probably the easiedst thign to find but can some pne tell me or take a picture of what exactly you "crank" on the tortion bar to make the deli higher.im not sure what im looking at is the right thing.when your in the "cranking"process does the deli need to be on blocks or anuything or is it still safe to go underneith
(im not very mechanical but im learning)
