Hey everyone,
Well, I managed to get my L400 van to Regina, only to notice a bad leak coming from the turbo on the way over!
I'm now trying to get a turbo sent from Vancouver, and wondering if anyone has any advice on how to replace the turbo on the van.
Maybe a site with some steps to follow, or a manual?
I have access to a shop, and tools, so I hope this shouldn't be too long of a job?
Any pointers would be appreciated!
Serge

How to change the turbo charger in an L400
I did one a few months ago. Very easy as far as turbos go. Drain the coolant so it doesn't make a mess when you take the lines off (or do what I did and just make a mess because its faster ;)) Take the intake off. Take the manifold heat shield and egr off. Take the downpipe off (helps to have a super long extension and impact gun). Remove oil and coolant lines (banjo bolts on the turbo, might be easier to remove the lines at the other end where they attach to the engine I don't remember). Remove the turbo from the exhaust manifold. Use a TON of penetrating fluid on any of the bolts/studs and nuts on the turbo and heat shield, they'll be super rusty and will likely break. I got lucky and didn't break anything, only took an afternoon to pull a turbo, repair the waste gate actuator and reinstall. Sorry for being vague but that's the basics of it
