Delica *kicks* when going into reverse.

Does your Mitsubishi L300 make a strange noise? Need wheel alignment specs?

Delica *kicks* when going into reverse.

Post by Rebel_way »

Hi!
I'm looking into buying myself a first delica. Today i was test driving one. All seems to be fine, but when I shifted it into reverse gear and started to back up I felt a kick in the back if felt like it was in the back left wheel, but I'm not sure . After the kick it was reversing normally. I tryed to go in reverse 4 times and every time had that *kick*.I had no problems driving forward.
What the problem might be? What the price might be for fixing it? Does it make a sence to actually buying delica with this kind of problem?

Also when on parking front cardan shaft can be turned full circle by hand, is that a part of the problem?

Thank you
Roman

Are you driving in 2WD or 4WD?

It's just a guess. Always get a vehicle inspected before you buy it. If you're interested in the van, take it to CVI and have them check it out. There will be far too many potential causes for someone who isn't overly mechanically inclined to figure out over the internet.

No L300's should ever "kick" on reversing, or ever. No sloppy steeriing either. Run away very fast from that L300, ans whoever is selling it.

There are very good ones for sale. And an inspection at CVI is about $75, very worthwhile as you crawl underneath as well if you want to learn. I think Butch might have 1 of his customers L300s for sale right now. And my other favourite trusted mechanic is Glen at Coombs Country Auto on the island, he might have 1 for sale also.

Cheers Christine.

This is the deli I was looking at. http://vancouver.en.craigslist.ca/rch/c ... 22248.html Before I went to see it yesterday it had 5 photos, now it has only 4. the 5th one was a shot of the interior, it has kind of funky curtains (white with some bright/colorfull figures/objects ...I hoping maybe anybody know the *original* owner who can comment on issues that delica had before got sold) this is how I recognized that it was on sale about a year ago or less. I have mentioned that to the seller and now he deleted the shot of interior and more likely these curtains are taken down. He told me he bought in Squamish in october. He couldn't provide me the papers from privious owner ( said he knows about these vans and didn't care about the papers,he told me he did lots of work himself and major was done at maximum overdrive, yet he is avoiding to comment on that *kick* in reverse gear and I'm waiting for the papers on the work was done ia the shop.
All in all I like the van, but that *kick* and the price compared to the work done is raising lots of questions.

I know that Butch has one delica for sale, it's l300 92 Exceed 169k if I'm not mistaken, I have seen it, but decided to keep on looking.
