final word on bilsteins?

Post by cd_photo »

I've been looking at a shock upgrade lately and have been doing some reading on here about that. So far it seems the Bilstein HD is the way to go, in terms of cost/performance. But from the various posts I've read on here, I haven't been able to figure out if the Bilsteins will fit on a stock height L400 straight up or if they need to be modified. I'm hoping to be able to install them myself, but I'm not super good at mechanics. So anything beyond removing a couple bolts and then replacing them is a bit to tech for me.

Thanks,

Colin

I have them on mine. No modifications that I can see (they were on there when I got it). I will crawl under it tonight and see if I can get you some part numbers.

No worries, Cregan. I've been neglecting my posts recently so it took me a while to reply.

Sorry it has taken so long! I just crawled under and here are the numbers I have on mine:

Front
F4-846-2109-HD

Rear
F4-846-2111-HD
TYO 10/-

That is exactly what it said on the labels. I could be off though as their letters look like numbers and I had to use a mirror to read the fronts- but I think I got it :-)

From a previous poster. Your 8's may be the letter "B"

Front : F4-B46-2109
Rear : F4-B46-2111 (ECS) / F4-B46-2110 (non-ECS)

Good eye mrdueck. I was just testing you. Man their labeling is crappy, or I couldn't tell the difference while laying on my back using a little mirror.
