Hey all,
I am going to import my first Delica by myself. I have already found Japanese company who is ready to ship Delica to Canada and a broker in Vancouver who can make a clearance process. But I am not sure about inspection, could somebody describe me do I need to pass two inspections - federal and provincial or provincial only?
Where can I do it in Calgary?
And how can I prepare Delica for the inspection? I know that I need to install DRL module and probably change bulbs, tires and brakes, mb is there something also?
Give me please some links, where I can get some additional information.
Thank you,
Pavel.

Kudos for taking on the importation yourself! I had no idea where to start so I went through Terra2. Still waiting for it, and haven't had to actually do the compliance stuff, but from what I gather this is what you need to comply in Alberta:
-out of province inspection (you don't need a federal one)
-new e-code headlights (noel @ enviroimports sells these and a whole compliance package)
-daytime running light module
-rear high mounted brake light (later models generally have these already)
-compliant tires
-mechanically sound vehicle (the inspection will find anything wrong, and you have to get it fixed)
I've heard ProActive is a good place to get the inspection done, but they need a week and a half notice to book an appointment.
Does anyone else know what else is needed for Alberta compliance?
Cheers,

Re: Inspection in Calgary
Hi
I bought my Delica from a local importer here in Calgary, so it had the inspection papers when I got it from him, but this is what I have:
-out of province inspection (you don't need a federal one): OK
-new e-code headlights (noel @ enviroimports sells these and a whole compliance package): Don't have this. Not sure if they're really required.
-daytime running light module: This is required.
-rear high mounted brake light (later models generally have these already): Mine had it. Not sure this is required.
-compliant tires: This is required.
-mechanically sound vehicle (the inspection will find anything wrong, and you have to get it fixed): Better be good
Don't know if anybody can tell for sure what's really required and what's not. I know BC and Alberta are different.
Good luck.

Re: Inspection in Calgary
Generally on the right track...
Also if you plan to spend much time on the roads in BC I highly recommend adding side reflectors and converting the side turn signal repeater to be on with the headlights, Alberta plates won't likely get you out of a BC road side inspection.
This is required (though some inspection shops overlook it, either way this is a safety issue, just do it!)-new e-code headlights (noel @ enviroimports sells these and a whole compliance package): Don't have this. Not sure if they're really required.
While not legally required on a light truck like the delica, you're not likely to find an inspection facility that will let it by without one, again, just do it (Delicas after August 1991 already have one)-rear high mounted brake light (later models generally have these already): Mine had it. Not sure this is required.

I had mine passed at Master Tune on 32nd Avenue N.E. They seemed like decent folks.
Excess is barely adequate!
