Rear hatch pistons
Rear hatch pistons
Any suggestions on how I might get the rear hatch to stay open short of replacing the pistons? The hatch does have a ladder on it to reach the roofrack and I guess the extra weight is a little too much for the pistons.

That is for sure one option... Or you could get your struts re-done by a dude in Surrey, he can make the as tight/ long as you would like. I spoke to him and all you need to do is to bring your old set( he needs the bits) and a few hours later you can hang on your rear hatch.
Cost about 60 per side.

that sounds cheaper that buying new ones. can you post the contact info, I just ordered 4 new sets of shocks from japan. but if we can get them rebuilt here for cheaper then that sound pretty good.
