L400 Dealer Supplied "Camping Kit" - How To?

Post by psychadelica »

Hey everyone,

My Series II L400 came with a dealer supplied "camping kit". I tried figuring out how it worked today but nothing I did seemed to really work + I was left with some unused sections. Has anyone ever seen one of these before? Know of an existing instruction manual? It would be pretty awesome to know how to properly set it up!! Thanks!

It came bundled like this..

The closest I could get to something reasonable was this setup, which was still a little uneven and tipped on the gaps when you climbed on it..

It also left me with this left over (assuming it's put together right. The bars also don't appear to clip onto any part of the inside of the van as supports either).

Here's another shot of all the gear. Note there is also that strange folding metal piece as well.

The new van :)

Wow, even better than Ikea. Nope, never seen that, and we see all sorts at Delica meets. My hunch is the leftover bit sits over the flattened chairs to even out the void spaces. which then might even out the upper cushions. I would schedule a deli-meat, and offer a prize to the person who figures it out. If you come to the mainland, come visit my home in Burnaby and we will have a mini meet in the backyard for herds of us to try our ikea skills. cheers christine

The aluminun frames look like they support a load. I have looked at a few camping bed types and they all have a frame that either supports the bed surface just above folded seats or the frames support the panels at key points where tipping happens, like when the panels tipped as you crawled in/on the thing.

This is an interesting puzzle. The panels look correct in your placement, just not supported.
