Now I've reattached it, and as I suspected it doesn't work. I feel like there is some kind of rapidly spinning wire that should be inside it but has fallen out. Is it like a dremel/foredom flexshaft inside there? Kind of like a weedeater shaft innards?
Anyways. Does anyone know if I have to get a whole new speedo cable or do they sell the guts separately?
Thanks!
Speedometer cable fell off.

Re: Speedometer cable fell off.
So I ordered in a new assembly (used from Coombs) and I took one that I bought and took the cable out of it's sheath, carefully slipping it into a clean plastic bag, making sure that I did not get dirt on it. I cleaned the sheath of the original assembly without removing it from the van then i slid in the new cable whilst carefully applying a very thing coating of grease. Sliding it out of the clean bag and into the sheath in one operation without the chance of dirt getting in. Then I reattached it to the transfer case, and re-clipped it into the instrument cluster (which had been removed)
It works!
And it was easy!
