Good Day,
I witnessed some hissing and spitting of smoke coming from the top right corner of the screen in my climate control module. After which there is no longer any indicators working on the screen (Does this mean its a ground issue?). I pulled out all boards and searched for any points that might be shorting in the wrong space as well as a solid visual inspection and sniff test for burnt electronics. The only discolouration I could find was on the top right of the screen. It is the same type of discolouration that I see in Mr. Pistachio's post from his 2010 mod (http://www.delica.ca/forum/dash-color-change-11482.html). This gives me hope that its a solid state piece of equipment I can replace. .
When viewed angle-on to the end, under the smoked glass, I can see two small hoops. These are different than anything else around the perimeter of the screen. Did they used to hold a wire as a fuse in there (attached picture shows two shiny dashes at top of screen in image)? I am curious as to whether I can pull off the top layer of screen to attempt a re-fusing of that connection.
Are there any other places I might be looking to find a burned out module that might offer a simpler answer on a repair than the this screen?
