Child seat anchor points?
I know this topic has been broached before, but I have yet to find the answer I'm looking for. I've got a 98 super exceed with the captain seats. Just transitioning from an infant seat to a convertible rear/forward facing model. The manual wants me to use both the seat belt and the tether for REAR facing operation. I'm trying to figure out where to tether to in this configuration. Would an aftermarket tether point using one of the drivers seat bolts be best choice? Sounds like grade 8 bolts are the best choice.... how do I know if what is there is grade 8, or something else? Once the seat transitions to forward facing, can I use those cool D ring shackle looking things that appear to be well bolted to the ground for my tether point? Thanks!!

Re: Child seat anchor points?
No takers then? My seat manual suggested that to attach the optional receiver end (just webbing and a metal loop) I should "Find a fixed location securely bolted to the floor". ??? There is a cross bar that runs between the back ends of the drivers seat track. This looks to be as strong a point as any other to attach my webbing to. For my eventual forward facing adventures, does anyone know if this D ring thing (see photo) is factory, and how strong it is. There are four total, essentially one each in front and behind the rear wheel wells. Thanks.

Re: Child seat anchor points?
Here's a link that talks about tether points. Delicat had mounted baby seats into the Mitsushi (L300) and he talks about it in this thread, his work is pretty comprehensive in my opinion. Try looking up his posts.
I would have thought more people would have jumped on this thread as there are many members with little kids. That D ring looks pretty skukum, I would think that your primary goal is to find a sutable part of the frame to affix it to. When you say you have a '98 Super Exceed, is it a Space Gear or a Starwagon?
Falco.

Re: Child seat anchor points?
Thanks for the link to posts...had already read all of those. Also looked on the Aussi and English sites. The Aussis seem to have anchor points installed as part of their compliance. The part that has confounded me is the REAR facing with tether mount. No one else seems to be talking about that setup. It's a Spacegear I have. I have ended up connecting to the cross bar between the backs of the drivers seat mounting tracks. Seems very robust. As for those D rings... I guess I'll keep on scouring the forums for info.
Thanks

Here are a couple of threads. I did this and drilled out the plastic and tethered it to the bar that goes across the captains seat.

It has worked for me for 3 years for one kid and 1.5 for the newest. Got stopped once at a car seat check and the lady tried her best to prove it was wrong but couldn't, so I got to drive along my merry way.
