WTB - 2.5 bottom end or long block

Post by TieMyShoe »

Need a good bottom end or somebody to help me pull a bottom end from a parts van (I broke my wrist can;t do it one handed)

I know I can get one through rising sun or the other parts places.. I just cannot bring myself to pay 1800-2500 for a non rebuilt used engine...

Contact the local guys first:

Butch at CVI Automotive (Richmond)
Commbs Country Auto (Victoria)
Rising Sun Imports (New Westminster)
Amazing Auto (Richmond)
Rocky Mountain Imports (Sanich)

You could also try and get an engine shipped direct from Japan..more of a last resort.

On another note: What makes you so sure your block is toast? The cylinder sleeves are replaceable/machineable and most engine shops are capable of repairing the bearing journals for the crank. Even a crack in the block can usually be repaired depending on location and size....or are you just looking for a used bottom end and hope that its gonna be good enough for a cheap rebuild?

Find out from Butch at CVI automotive who he uses to rebuild/machine Delica engines....could be worth the call you know.

ya basically the head on my deli is redone, but the turbo went though my engine and I am 90% has scored the walls all to hell. I'm getting such severe blow by my crank seals and a pan gasket have blown out. I was hoping to keep the price down and just find a good bottom end and do a refresh VS a full rebuild. However it's starting to look like I will have to a full build or buy a parts van.

How much is your time worth and how much of this is hobby, love or necessity? The way I see it, much like I see Earthworm's situation with his rust pockets, it seems that you have your engine in pieces already ~ why not do a complete overhaul? I think CVI may have a set of sleeves in stock, not positive, plus they are good people to talk to and they do their own engine rebuilds.

Engine is still in van fully assembled actually. I've not pulled it apart as I want to keep the van mobile until such time that I have all the parts to repair it again. It still runs.. it just creates a bio hazard under boost. I connected a fuel pressure gauges to my catch can and am reading about 10PSI pressure in the crank case though... so its pretty clear I have blow by issues.

Any opinion on the E-Bay kits rebuild?

you sure it is blowby? small chance of blowing compression to oil passage in the head gasket.... Maybe do a leak-down test?

I would feel better doing an ebay rebuild kit over a used motor given the prices :o :o :o :o

but no experience with the kits
