I might be looking for a new (to me) delica. I have a 92 super exceed. Is there much difference between that and a 99 l300 , aside from the sissy looking bumper? Is motor the same? How about a 98, or a 97? What are the differences?
Maybe this post should be in l300 technical ... I dunno...

Re: new(er) l300
I think the only difference is the bumper, the oil cooled vs water cooled turbo and the glow plug voltage.

Is it a mechanical system, or electronic? In direct injection?

Just a question,, Where would you find a '99 model year?? I thought they made the L300 up to '97 in Japan. Someone did point out to me that they continued to produce it for other countries.... So is this what your considering? Buying one from somewhere other than Japan?

I just looked on a Japanese auction site for them. Found some 98s and 99s..... But honestly, after 97 they changed the front end and they look kinda ugly.

Yeah, I think you're right. I posted a similar question on here a while back. I have a '93 that I really like and was curious about the possible advantages of purchasing a newer one. Not too many mechanical differences and obviously no difference in the body style until you go up past 97.
I bought a glove box manual for my van off of Amazon UK and the van on the front cover is of the newer design. Not as cool......
Good luck with your search
