Trailer hitch source? for my USA version "Delica"

Post by blankenship »

hey all-

recently bought an '87 van that's the USA version of the delica-
(meaning, left-hand drive, 2-wheel-drive, 2.4 Liter gas engine).
not the most desirable, i'm sure, but, hey, it was $500 :)

i've lusted after one for years, but am just now new to the forum.

i'm looking to make some modifications, (even interested in possibly converting her to a 4x4 chassis, eventually), but right now have got to figure out how to get a good trailer hitch on her.
does anybody have a source for hitches that will fit? or have one for sale? i'm hoping to find something that was made for it (here in North America, if possible), and doesn't have to be fabricated...does that exist, or am i fooling myself?

while i'm at it, any good North American sources for bull bars, rear mirrors, window curtain sets, ladders, and stuff like that?

Hello, Welcome the the Canadian Delica website. Bear in mind this website predominantly refers to the Japanese domestic version, not the version exported to USA, hence info may differ. To summarise the numerous hitch postings here, Nope. No kit version, no major parts supplier prefab, no Japanese or Mitsubishi hitch (not many folk trailer in Japan). Our 2 usual options are DIY, or a local Burnaby company E and H Hitch.

If you do find a USA source, please let us know.
Regards, Christine of the TardisDeli.

You might want to check this out. Looking into it myself as I can't get it here for another two months.

am I missing something, or is there a reason why no one has mentioned the maximum overdrive hitch? it is discussed here:

Coombs country Auto for all those items, and I believe there are currently converting a USA market van to 4x4.
