Wrecker Recycled parts that got installed in your Spacegear

Post by Big-Bird »

When a JDM comes into Canada from across the pond the stereo is usually one of the first things that will get changed because the radio tuner is not set for north america.

So what do you do? If you have a CD unit with an input for your MP3 player and radiois no big whoop AND the JDM unit still works you could leave it in and let it ride.

You could also buy a new Double Din unit and get all the whizzer toys/options.

A third option is to troll the auto wreckers and buy a decent stock deck from a newer vehicle. What I found that seemed to work quite well was the stereos from Nissan Pathfinders. These can be highpowered systems on many models and only cost 20-30$. They look stock and have green lights in the switch panel which closely match the dash bulbs found in the average spacegear.

My next deck will be come from a first gen Xterra which did sometimes come with a sweet Rockford Fosgate system with CD and aux input jack. There is an amp under the seat for the stock woofer in this stereo and its slim enough to be installed in the Delica's rear quarter panels.

I would be curious to know what wrecker options other JDM owners have had success with.
Yeah I joined the Dark Side because the medical plan is top shelf!
