I looked up an A/C compressor for my 97 L400 on Partsbase.org (great site and well organised).
I found the part # (MR206800).
On Amayama.com the price is $1638.26 + shipping.
I googled the part # and found this:

They list it for $123.50 + $111.58 shipping (to the US).
Anyone ever bought from this site? My initial instinct is that it's too good to be true.

I have not tried yet. I have been interested in it though.
Looks like they are all re manufactured. You could buy a few, and if one dies, just swap another in to place.

I put in a $400 aftermarket one from Rocky Mountain , works perfectly.
