Good place for chains

OK I havent bought tire chains for a loooonnnngggg time and will be needing a set for the deli. So weres a good place to go to get them?

may I ask why you need them? I live up north, drive up and down icy mountains... and have never encountered anything I couldnt attack with good winter tires and 4wheel drive...

Our local ski hill (Mt Washington) requires them sometimes and the local RCMP will sit and wait to nab you. Also its better to have and never use than not have and need.

Hey Kerry,
The sign at the bottom does say "Chains required OR good winter tread tires" I believe. Correct me if I am wrong.
I am looking for chains also because Mt.Cain required them even if you have good winter tread tires.
I am running Uniroyal Laredo AWT 30x9.5r15 which talking to chain guys is a unusual sizing?? But Canadian Tire does have some for the deli. $148, prepaid because they are a special order and they take 2 weeks to get here. Part #08-3873

Well thanks for the correction. They must be cracking down on that policy because I worked on Pro Patrol and drove up there 3 year in a row a never was stopped by the RCMP because I had good winter tread tires. I guess with more and more people heading up with very little mountain driving experience it is a good thing. Keeps us all safer.

I just got chains at canadian tire I have 235/75r/15 tire got some chains right off the shelf 70$ fit like a dream work great already tried them out. I go up mt baker alot don't need them that often but when you do have them and you blow by everybody and get first tracks it's well worth it. also went up cain on sat and they were stopping people with out chains and had a mandatory chain up for the trip down the weekend before. the delica in 4X4 with good tries and common sense should take you up almost any mountain road but there are those days on the coast where it is just around frezzing and the snow packs into ice slap on the chains and your good to go.Bring on winter

Chains are not mandatory at Mt W until they are. They used to be, however they aren't required until the road turns so snotty that there is little hope of getting down it without them, which can happen very quickly. I don't care where your from, until you meet a melt freeze 40 cm dump on that road with a descent into rain you have no idea how bad it can be.
Sean worked there for three years --- I've been there 18, beware of that road.
Having said that, I don't have chains, wait until the crowd dives into the sidewalls and then drive down.

you bet just checked they are magic grip/quality chain corp # 1942 they are in a black plastic case looks like a box of tools. size chart on the end with the part # in big bold numbers that is the biggest size they come in the next size up you move into the diamond grip chains (very nice I might add) but you double in price. look for used ones, there are alot of people who have chains but no longer have the car or have different tires I bought good used chains for my jeep for 40 bucks on craigs list. I agree with John n I lived in quesnel for years learned to drive in the snow. when I moved back to the coast I also worked at MT washington for 3 years and it is a very different type of snow.The freeze thaw crap and wet snow can cause some unique situations you don't need cahins that often but when you've got your stoked
