Hey every one,

Today my transmission failed on my L300. we at that is what I think has happened. I have been hauling heavy loads with the old girl with no troubles what so ever. However todayI was driving along wiith no load and it felt like my clutch was slipping out untill it was completely disengaged. I have a 92 L300 exceed, automatic transmission, I dont know where to start to try and fix the problem myself. I chatted to Mardy at Amazig Auto Imports, who I bought the car from, I highly reccomend his service by the way, and have followed his trouble shooting advice, however I have not been able to solve the problem.
After shutting the engine off for a few minutes the clutch engaged for a short period before swiftly disengaging....
Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
Im hoping its an easy fix and not a costly haul and repair job...

Many thanks in advance.

Matt

What is the colour of the transmission fluid? Bright red is good, black is bad. Put a drop on a piece of white paper. Also, drain the tranny, remove the pan and remove the inner filter and replace and check if there are bits of metal in the filter. Mine started slipping, but it was because of a small hole in the transmission cooler located at the front corner on the drivers side. Flushed it, topped it up and replaced the cooler and it was all good.
