fan Shroud help

Post by kurtographer »

Help!!!
Does anyone have, or know where i can get, a fan shroud for a 1993 L300??
I've called around to the repair shops in Vancouver looking for one, they have all said they'd look, but I don't get any calls back.
Should i even be driving without a shroud? I don't even know. why don't I have a shroud? not sure. who'd steal a defenceless fan shroud? couldn't tell you. Please dear Delica god send me a fan shroud

Also looking for a signal/ headlight switch assembly from right side of steering column, and maybe a rack or roof basket. Also would like to win the lottery.

Try Maximum Overdrive or Amazing Autos in Richmond. The pictures you have posted are not the fan shroud, eh? I imagine that you know that.

By the way, I read in another thread that you used a heat gun to restore your bush bar shroud. Be careful about doing that as what it does is attract the oils from deeper in the vinyl to the surface, which then evaporates and eventually the vinyl will crack. I use a product by Auto Glym vinyl and rubber (Canadian Tire) but there are others, it's served me well for the last seven years and each application lasts for six months to a year. If you have a seriously greyed out item ~ it may take more than one application.

Thanks Falco, I have tried those places in richmond and they didn't call me back .I'm having a rough go with this van, finding parts, getting a straight answer in regards to why its bubbling air out of its rad. sigh, Hoping my luck will change.
Thanks for the tip, the internet is a wealth of heat gun misinformation, hopefully it doesn't crack on me now.

Be persistent. With Amazing Autos I find I get better responses with texting. With Max OD I find calling between 11:00 two in the afternoon to be a more responsive time.

Regarding the heat gun treatment, I'm sure you're fine. If you keep doing it ~ it'll crack. I'd put some vinyl dressing on it. I use it on all the plastic and vinyl, like the tail lamps. Drop me a line if you want to hook up for a coffee and a chat.
