Saving private fuel system!
Hello 4D56 owners!
Has anyone here started adding 2-stroke oil or even adding 2-4 oz of Acetoneto to their 4D56 when refuling? I've been blogging on the idea that diesel now days doesn't have as much as a lubricant as it once was! And that acetone on the other hand will increase your explosion burn by 15-25%... Including smoothening the engine running noise, increasing the system longevity !!!
... I remember back in the 80's you could dip your fingers and compress diesel between your fingers and that lubricity would cause your fingers to stick together.... Now days you can barely feel anything. Also, Back in the days, engines, fuel system including fuel lines, filters, and pumps greatly depended on that lubricity. In today's world, High pressure Common rails uses such high compression and clearances to 0.0001, they need a diesel that is manufactured to today's standards. When 2 stroke oil is added to diesel, it acts like a lubricant. Giving it its lubricity that it desperately need. I believe that you can give your fuel pump a break and give her the attention that she needs! Instead of replacing that pump at 250000k doing so it will last 500000k...
Now What's make out little 4D56 so powerful??? And why not adding an extra 10 to 25% burn to the system by adding 2 to 4oz of Acetone per tank!!! To some people, this is a big deal... But make sure you don't ask petroleum companies since they want customers to not safe on fuel but to keep on filling up! Acetone will give your Diesel engine extra burn for its buck!
in the end, you save on fuel, you get a better burn and less sooth, and all the fuel (meaning 100% of the fuel injected) will burn with Acetone added.
Perhaps A good idea to give it a try!!!!

acetone sounds possibly risky to your engine, older diesels and injection pumps like ours need added lubricity like you said, i buy some, and lasts quite a while as you only need to add a small amount each fill up. heres a link for some info. https://mercedessource.com/node/2853

Absolutely right! I myself been doing it for some times... Either way, Acetone is in it simplest form is an excellent additive. Either you buy Cetane booster from Canadian tire or add Acetone, it is vertically similar in molecule construction. Perhaps in a less concentration you would argue!

In addition, WVO is perhaps excellent in warm climate but the processing and getting it has left me unwilling to use it. Old diesel system could also be ran on a couple of engine oil gallons mixed with water! It's amazing what it will run on...

Sorry, a bit off topic but...ChuckBlack wrote:In addition, WVO is perhaps excellent in warm climate but the processing and getting it has left me unwilling to use it. Old diesel system could also be ran on a couple of engine oil gallons mixed with water! It's amazing what it will run on...
What, if anything, can you buy off the shelf in a store and pour in your fuel tank? Peanut oil? Veggy oil? Anything?

I use Howe's Diesel Treat. I've tried other stuff but keep coming back to Howe's.

Your after canola oil and you add it to your diesal at about 20 percent after that you would need to do a WVO conversion to your van.

I always run Howe's, and sometimes 2 stroke oil if I've got some laying around. I find piss test cups perfect for it, measurements on the side, and seal it up when you're done!
So you're currently running acetoneto, how much to a fill? If it's the same as cetane booster, well then I'll start adding it since winter diesel is going to on its way soon enough
