One problem fixed, another one pop up...

Does your Mitsubishi L300 make a strange noise? Need wheel alignment specs?

One problem fixed, another one pop up...

Post by FredVenne »

So I received my part from Coombs to set the actuator valve with the turbo. Thank you.

Now installed, it works, lots of power again!

But wait... while I push the gas pedal on an uphill I can feel the power, but suddenly, I can hear short burst (air pressure, don't know) under the seat... Go back home and coolant is dripping crazy out of the overflow tube. The overflow canister is not even full.

So I removed the radiator cap to see if the seal is in place. Check.
Started the engine without the cap. Check
Within seconds, it starts bubbling crazy, splashing all over and smoke coming out. I have a very bad feeling. The head was changed 2 years ago.

But why is it doing this just AFTER I set the rod to the actuator valve and the turbo... WHY?!? What could possibly go wrong... AGAIN?!?

I am so freakin tired of this...

Fred

increased cylinder pressure will allow pressure to push past a breached head gasket. Hopefully that's not the case but your description it sounds like it. You can hook a pressure gauge to you rad in place of the cap. Start the truck and take it for a drive. If the pressiuds extremely fast and goes.above cap blow off pressure you have a breached hg. If you find the pressure spikes when you give it throttle this is also a sign of hg.

When the turbo started working again it pushed increased air into the cylinders which likely caused a weak spot in the head gasket to fail.

You have a gasket problem would be my initial assessment.

It is more likely to be a gasket. Will find out Monday. Just drove 10km with it and the coolant was gushing out of the overflow canister/tube. Will keep you updated...

And this is happening only a few days before going back home, 5 months later... without seeing my wife... the guy is getting very much irritated...
