sitting problems

Post by punkrawker »

so the van has been sitting for awhile now and trieds to start it the other day. my batteries read 12.5v like they should so i know this is not a battery issue. It wont even turn over, it engages for maybe a second and then the van completely dies. no start, no lights etc. wait 10-15 van then i have lights again but wont turn over. i have had it plugged in so the block is warm. I have done nothing to the van since its been sitting and it started and ran when i parked it. Any thoughts? Really don't want to get rid of it but kinda running out of options at the moment.

Hi
battery voltage does not tell you how much amps the battery can put out when starting. Try charging it externally over night, or get another battery/car and jumpstart the Delica. I have seen batteries with good voltage readings when no load is applied, but even if you switch the lights on or start the fan the readings go down rapidy ...

Some read here: http://www.flyingbeet.com/electricg/batteries.html
