Today I started having problems with my steering.
If I am not accelerating the steering is not power assisted!!!
If I accelerate it becomes easy.
The fluid is fine and doesn't seem to be any belt issues...
Any thoughts would be much appreciated

Re: 1994 L400 SpaceGear Steering Issue
Hopefully someone smarter than me pipes up, but my guess is bad seals in the PS pump

ITS EITHER the pump seals or the seals in the rack and pinion steering.

Re: 1994 L400 SpaceGear Steering Issue
MM Have you done any work to the power steering or added any fluid? Any leaks under the van in the morning? Is the fluid level up??
It's possible there is still an air bubble in the system. Were any new parts installed by the previous owner/dealer?? Crawl under and have a look. Crank the steering wheel lock to lock 20 times to bleed any air out.
You've only owned the van for 7 months so there could be something overlooked.
Can you return the van to the dealer (?) you bought it from. They may have some ideas.
I usually look back on what repairs I've done recently for the reason..... What did I forget to do???
Is there tension on the belt? Try tightening the belt a little. Simple fix maybe???
Good luck
