Recharge Air Shocks for Tail Gate

Post by Morganizer »

Do you know where I can get the air shocks that hold up the tail gate recharged? They're at the point where in warm weather they're fine, but when it's cooler they sag, and I bonk my head.

I call mine "barometric struts". If I open the tailgate and it stays up ~ chances are I'm wearing a T-shirt. If the tailgate drops on my head ~ chances are I'm wearing more than a T-shirt. It's on my bucket list, one day I too will gas my struts. Let us know how it turns out.

The Lift Supports Depot ones are good. They're for a P35. Too long for my P25. But I took a bunch of measurements and they're going to make a set for me, then add them to their website. Maybe 30-60 days out.

I have Lift Gate Depot struts I ordered from eBay and they work! I would have preferred to get my original struts recharged because they are heavier duty than the replacements. They seem to hold up however, the real test will be when it gets below freezing. If a recharge is available nearby I would recommend going that route..

I second strutwise in BC. I had mine done a few years ago and they still will take your beak off if you are not careful. Even in -40C Winnipeg weather they don't sag.
