Safety issues
So, this is a newbie question for sure..
But are these things equipped with ABS and/or airbags? ( 91-93 L300's )

Abs I don't think so, and for sure no air bag.

Re: Safety issues
Hmm.. I can see air bags as a hazard but I don't think ABS are.
I wonder if the L400 series (1994+) has any more 'safety'
thanks.

Re: Safety issues
ABS takes control away from the driver when they most need it... it is if anything a larger safety hazard than airbags.
The ABS on my work van has very nearly caused several collisions that would have otherwise been avoided (and thankfully still were, but no thanks to the ABS)
ABS is one of dozens of systems designed to dumb cars down so that even a moron can drive, if you can't drive a vehicle without these systems then you shouldn't drive at all.

Wow, Green1 is in a good mood this morning!
The first L400 comes only with driver airbag (serie 1, 1994) while the later serie 2 (1996?) comes with dual airbag. They both come with ABS. As for the safety of both items it's a hit and miss, love/hate thing. I've seen people injured by airbags for no reason and l've seen people that no longer would be here if it wasn't for the airbags. Same goes with the ABS. There are still people out there that think they don't need seatbelts...
I'm fine with neither of these items but that's me.

Re: Safety issues
LOL.
OK then,, thanks for the opinions!
that's kind of what I was thinking anyway,,
questions were just one of the 'before I buy' , newbie items to check off the list.
and that's a hefty check now!

Re: Safety issues
The newer L300's (like mine) do have dual airbags but no ABS.

And once in a blue moon, that opinion is even something that remotely resembles what I know to be right. <duck>Green1 wrote:and I sometimes even have an opinion....
