Hey definingdigital, thanks for posting about your hitch install...looks awesome. I've been meaning to do the same thing since I bought my Delica 4 months ago, but haven't found the right one yet, and that setup you have looks solid. Aside from mtn bikes, I'm looking to haul a 300 lb (ya know, like 140 kg in more advanced civilizations;) moto on a hitch rack. Any idea what the tongue weight rating is for your hitch receiver? What is the make/model? Cheers for the beta.

That looks great, and very stout.
Out of curiosity, does anyone know if the Curt hitches for the Mitsubishi Van that was imported into the U.S. work on a Delica?

I know it's a little class 1, but I'm only looking to pull a light trailer.

Finally got around to ordering a kit from Steven @ Rising Sun Imports, and to be honest, it was one of the easiest installs I've done. I spent hours on the phone here in Edmonton trying to get a shop to weld something up or modify a receiver for the 1992 Delica, but nobody wanted to touch it. Getting the kit from Stephen was super easy, and very happy with the result!

Uses 3 existing bolt holes.

NOTE: I actually had to move the bolts to the first 2 settings on the large middle part to make a little more room for when I lifted up the spare tire.... in the pic shown it has the bolts in the 1 and 3 holes..

Would you please be willing to post a part or catalog number? I want to order the same for my 87. Thank you!

It is a Very good quality part, easy to install. The only drawback is that any oversized tire, even with the stock rim/wheel, will make the spare tire holder not to fits perfectly into its original position.

I believe I ran into the same issue. I just had to drill a hole a bit lower for the tire mount, so the tire would fit under. Might need a different fix for a larger tire.

Very nice, and I wish that was on mine!
I realize I don't have a rear sway bar on my delica..
I bet I could fit a 235/75-15 behind that hitch, where as my Reese 37096 multi-fit will not allow it despite all my efforts to force it. But it's robust, and I believe my solution to carry the spare will be to install a moto-hauler I inherited from a motorhome and strap the spare to it as a temporary solution, despite the extra weight. at least the tire is then not on the roof!

The reese is 500lb rated. I took a pic of the spec sticker but it turned out blurry. it's this one:

I would try to sell you my moto-bar if you were closer, Snomad74!

Hi Weelsey,
Did I read this correctly? Do you have the Reese 37096 on your Delica? Did you have to customize it to get it to work?
