Difference between two 6v glow-plug options

Does your Mitsubishi L300 make a strange noise? Need wheel alignment specs?

Why do you suppose the Mitsubishis have the spade or oval tips? It suggest a possible alignment in the swirl chamber to me. Hmm.
If there is such a consideration, would the combustion differences between a cylindrical and the oval GP tips be enough to consider going the (more costly) OEM in their own right?

I presume it's just from the manufacturing process- the ceramic tips are blade shaped because they're sintered, metal plugs are round because they're stamped?

I don't think alignment is an issue. I've not actually checked, but I'd be surprised if the threaded holes in the head were identical (with the thread ending at exactly the same angle on each hole). I know spark plug holes don't work like that. It might be worth marking a set of glow plugs so you know how the tip is aligned, then screw them into the head and see if they all end up pointing the same way.
Nothing says "poor workmanship" more than wrinkles in the duct tape.

That makes sense to me, Growlerbearnz. I'm guessing the process isn't used nowadays. Know of any other applications of this kind of plug? I don't.

It seemed that they seated each about 45 deg respective of the injector/gp alignment. None were in alignment, anyway, which is what I paid attention to.

I bet the thinner tip allows for faster heating, for one thing. Cheers.
