Hi folks, I'm happy to have found this group. After a summer spent stalking one of the large Japanese auction sites, I finally found my ride! It's a 1998 L400 gasoline-powered SWB Super Exceed (PD6W). The twist: I bought it off a guy in Victoria, BC, which is only about an hour from my house.
