Man it’s been a few years since I’ve been around. Hope you are all well.
I’ve encountered a small oil leak coming from the A/C condenser below the passenger (outside).
I would like to drain the pressurized system, remove the condenser, take it in for repair.
Is there a drain plug or any safe way of releasing the pressure and removing the oil/coolant?
I’ve checked the manual and have not found the procedure for draining the system (A/C)
Much appreciated,
WM

1991 L300 A/C Condenser Leak
The '91s were still using R12, which is the ozone depleting chemical that gave my Mum skin cancer. No pressure or judgement
but the correct way to drain it is to take it to an AC shop where they'll drain it out, flush the system, and dispose of the R12 correctly.
They drain it through the fill/drain ports which are in the two aluminium lines near the compressor. It can be converted to modern R132a refrigerant easily.
The leak might be a failed O-ring, it's a good idea to replace all the O-rings while you have it drained. They're special green HNBR O-rings, and some of them are unusual sizes. I bought an O-ring kit and was able to replace most of them, but the AC shop had to supply a couple of sizes.

Nothing says "poor workmanship" more than wrinkles in the duct tape.
