Friday March 28th-Sunday March 30th Harrison FSR Round Deux
Second annual? No one seemed too concerned about date and location, so I set it myself. It is not set in stone, but lets see who can make it. If 5 people can't make it and propose a new date that doesn't rule out more people than it will allow then it will be changed, otherwise it stays.
So, I haven't seen brett around here lately, although I haven't been around much either, but I know weaver lake campground was a hit, aside from the lock issue. We owe you for that, but I promise we didn't just do it for fun, the key really didn't work. So, if you could get me the number of someone to call about doing that again for a night that would be great.
Last year we were worried about the issue of washouts and things of that nature. By the end of march the road was in great shape, I bet andy could have made it without a scratch. So although i'll try to look into road condition, (which I recall was a pain last year) the trip will go ahead regardless and just may get turned around is all.
Friday - Meet at campground (Possible weaver lake or other)
Saturday, Drive, wheel, bounce, jump, roll (maybe) pull, spin, our way to sloquet hot springs, as per last time (I loved it there)
Sunday, More driving, out to pemberton, Down through whistler, home for dinner if we want.
This is very much the same trip as last year, hopefully those who missed out can come see what they missed last time. It will be a great time, and don't worry, apparently Bruce plans to come over some time this year, so when he does we will most definitely have to show him a different part of BC, I'd be into organizing an island meet for that.
So first things first. If you are available and willing let me know. I will put your name on the list below, and you will forever be flogged for backing out if you should do so. Also, anyone wanting to help organize or input ideas please let me know as well. Plans are not set in stone, but they sure worked well last year.
Confirmed Attendees:
Adrock.
Delicat.
Christine and Jay of the TardisDeli.
Frisch (you for sure?)
rdub.
Patty.
FalcoColumbarius.
Coaxial.

Re: Friday March 29th - Sunday April 2nd Harrison FSR Round Deux
This sounds great to me, I will just have to check with work to make sure I'm available.
Check the forestry websites for road conditions (usually useless) or call the company responsible for the road (listed on the forestry page), or perhaps check the trail talk board on bc4x4.
I would be up for doing the loop clockwise but either works. Per my trip up there recently I know the only impassible part is harrison west FSR which is covered in deep snow. The rest is kept in great shape year round currently.
Are we not running a high risk of camping pranks doing this on april fools day?

you Mainland folks must be working with a very special calendar, but over here on the Island-mon, March 29th is a Saturday and April 2nd is a Wednesday.

Mainland guy here but I'm going with the Island boys point of view... Friday to Sunday totals 3 days and March 29th to April 2nd totals 5 days! Hey Adrock, having a good time?
I'm in for Friday March 28 to Sunday March 30th. Any issues with bringing dogs? I can try to help you Adrock, just PM me if you need something.
See you all!

AHA, i can explain, you see, my iCal was set on march, and i was looking at the top. Feb has 29 days this year, which added to the confusion. March 28-30.
Sorry.
Sorry.

I'm interested. I just asked my wife for permission and companionship, and she's game. I think our 5 month old wants to go too.

Hey Frish,
5 months old is a great age to travel! We took our 5 months boy from Vancouver to Quebec and back on a 5 weeks road trip this summer and it was still a challenge but much easier than expected. Had the old VW for the trip which helped for camping but would have loved to do it in a Delica... next time maybe.
See you there!

Hi Adrock, Confirmed reply from us : Christine and Jay of the TardisDeli. We are happy to help you organize.
We did the full Vancouver/Chilliwack/Harrison West Road/Pemberton/Meager Creek/Whistler/Vancouver trek on Remembrance Day weekend, checked out all the little side roads and made notes in the "Backroads Book" map which is great for the area and took photos for ideas for future camping.
As I expect there might still to be snowpatches, We have lots of camping stuff to create a central shared campsite (ie small portable wood stove so we can have campfire regardless of conditions. Canopies and tarps for a nice dry central cooking mingling area. Generator for emergency -- not to use because Delicites are ALL self-sufficient and wouldnt dream of needing noisy power. Folding tables. Coleman stoves. etc. etc.
So those who havent got organized for camping yet HAVE NO EXCUSE not to participate - just fold flat your rear chairs, take ALL the duvets and pillows from the bed at home to make a cozy Deli-Nest, pack all your warm clothes, fill up the fuel tank and GIDDY-UP !
Cheers, Christine and Jay of the TardisDeli.

Dogs are more than welcome, I believe my pup will be coming with me, although she's definitely an on leash dog and isn't a huge fan of long bumpy car rides. It would be nice to have her along. More than welcome to bring your dog though, whether I bring mine or not.

Adrock,
My family is 95% sure we're able to make it.
Are there any WVO folks on the mainland with an excess of fuel...willing to sell ~30L?
