Does your Mitsubishi L300 make a strange noise? Need wheel alignment specs?

Tire Size on stock rims

Post by 2-4-0 »

Hey guys,

Recently aquired a 92' Delica Exceed. I'd like a more aggressive off-road type tire and was wondering what size fits without any modifications etc. or very minor modifications.

Thanks

I know that others on this forum are running 30” x 9.5 x 15 tires. These tires are commonly available in the USA, and only more rarely here in Canada. They are slightly larger than a 235x75R15 and the largest tire possible on a delica without modification from all reports. The stock 6” wide rims will work with this tire, but will not provide as good mounting or handling as a 7” wide rim. Even with the 30" tires, a slight cranking / lift by the torsion bars in the front is recommended followed by a full front alignment. I'm currently running 235x75/R15 (29" approx) so my comment is only from what I've found on this forum. I've got beat up 31" on toyota rims in the garage that will fit with a full torsion bar cranking, removal of from steps, mudflaps, and some trimming here and there....sounds like too much work so I'm waiting for better weather and a free weekend day to mess around with this.

Patty just had the whole gig done by a shop on the North Shore called Tire Craft (torsion cranking, trimming etc) - but you will still need a front alignment and some 7" wide rims to make the 31" work. Cannot be any 7" rims either - offset from the mid 1990's Toyota rims works well - so most people recommend those.

Good luck!
