Are you 100% sure it was switching off before? I only ask because it would be VERY strange for a switched power source to become un-switched. The only thing I could think of in a scenario like this is if there is a relay in the CD power circuit that has failed causing the circuit to remain closed when you turn off your ignition.
Is the CD player an aftermarket one? Are other accessories also remaining on? This might help in diagnosing the problem.

Patty,
I had the same problem, then I discovered that my "Eliminator" spare battery boost was plugged into the cabin cigarette lighter to charge and when I switched the ignition off it was no longer charging but was powering my stereo from the other side of the ignition. Could this be what you are experiencing?
Falco.

Re: CD player not turning off when deli is off
Strange problem indeed... I can confirm that my cigarette lighter IS switched so it won't function when the power is off. What "FC" is eluding to is an interesting twist in that the Eliminator would be providing power via the cigarette lighter causing the CD player to remain on as long as the Eliminator provides voltage. This would tell me that the power source wire for the CD player may be tied to the cigarette lighter power wire and should be relocated to another switched source to avoid leeching.
This could explain the switched power suddenly acting as tho it is un-switched.
Now... if the problem has arisen from bumping around, the CD power wire source sounds as tho it has shaken loose causing loss of power to all accessories attached to it then conveniently laid itself on another power source that provides continuous power like the unswitched side of the fuse box. That might be a good place to start diagnosis.
Without having the wiring diagram in front of me, it is hard to tell if this is even possible but maybe my ramblings might trigger a lightbulb..... switched, of course.
Hopefully you are able to find your problem. Good luck!

Re: CD player not turning off when deli is off
I regularly do this on purpose. I plug a gell cell battery into either cig outlet, and it runs all accessories with the key out, and without draining the vehicle batteries.FalcoColumbarius wrote:I had the same problem, then I discovered that my "Eliminator" spare battery boost was plugged into the cabin cigarette lighter to charge and when I switched the ignition off it was no longer charging but was powering my stereo from the other side of the ignition.
Just keep in mind that:
a) with engine running, alternator charges all batteries
b) with key at accessory, vehicle and other battery are connected in parallel and power all accesories
c) with key off, other battery powers all accessories (including clock and thermometer)
