Headlights out
Headlights out
Sure glad there is a forum such as this. Just got my 92 Super Exceed on Saturday. All fine so far except that yesterday, one low beam headlight stopped working. A few hours later, the other. Then a few hours after that, one high beam stopped working. Now I am down to one high beam and not sure how long that will last. DRL were working fine prior to all this. Fuses under driver side dash are all good. Anythoughts?

Re: Headlights out
Umm, take it back to the dealer.
Probably nothing big e.g. poor bulbs, poor wiring, faulty DRL (although it wouldn't typically interfere with the high beams), faulty relay or switch. Put on your sherlock holmes hat and begin to deduce one possibility at a time.

Re: Headlights out
We have been having on off problems lately, we jiggle the light indicator stalk, shift into drive and out, and generally sweet talk it, they pop back on. We have mentally troubleshot it to the light switch relay thingy which is somewhere at the bottom of the steering column, but tooo lazy to deal with. Sorry, the technical manual is in the deli so can't look up the terms till tonight. Check your ground. Also check your light bulbs are screwed in tightly. I agree, if you just bought it take it back, as maybe they messed up with installing the DRL Daytime Running light Relay. Cheers christine. Are you in Vancouver ?

Re: Headlights out
As the DRL Module controls both lights, if it went then both low beams would go out at the same time. The Grote DRL module does come with it's own inline fuse however that is separate from the fuse panel.
Silverstar Bulbs for example are notrious for blowing within 24 hours of each other.
However if you just got it and presumably the dealer has just installed new eCode lights and bulbs, that would not happen. Everything points to the dealer. If there is not new eCode lights in there, then how did they get it through the inspection? And if there is new lights, why did they blow already?
Presuming it was not a private sale, for the benefit of the community it would be helpful if you post the outcome, your level of satisfaction, and who the dealer was when it is resolved.

Re: Headlights out
many of the new "E" code lights are notorious for coming with cheap bulbs, mine lasted about a week before the first one went, the other 3 were all gone within the next 4 days, I replaced them once, and it's now over a year later on the new bulbs.if there is new lights, why did they blow already?
Could be that simple.... could be something else, but it's always best to start with the simple stuff before digging for a more complex problem.
Re: Headlights out
Thanks for the tips. Cant take it back to the dealer - private sale. DRLs have been in since November. Thanks all Marcel - ps: in Victoria, Christine.
Re: Headlights out
well my saga seems to continue. The bulbs are all good. Mysteriously, I have two high beam lights again. But I lost the dash lights and the horn. One fuse - third from left top row (horn) seems to keep blowing every time the lights are turned on. As well, now the motor wont turn off when the light switch is in the "on" position. Obviously there is a short somewhere. Took the column cover off and found a broken wire with a green diode at the end of it. Anyone know what that is for? Sure loving my new purchase.

Re: Headlights out
most likely poorly setup DRL module...One fuse - third from left top row (horn) seems to keep blowing every time the lights are turned on.
nope, but I would bet it's related to your issue, because it doesn't sound stock....Took the column cover off and found a broken wire with a green diode at the end of it. Anyone know what that is for?

The green diode in the column lights up the circle around ignition.on.belay wrote:well my saga seems to continue. The bulbs are all good. Mysteriously, I have two high beam lights again. Why won't you stop by CVI? they'll figure it out, and you'll save yourself some gray hair.
Re: Headlights out
Who or What is CVI?

Re: Headlights out
Where are you located ?? It should be a quick and easy fix if you can get it to someone familiar with these vehicles .
Re: Headlights out
Im in Victoria. I took it to Marigold and they quickly found the fuse issue but could only tell me that its probably a short somewhere. Thought I would play around with it a while tyring to figure it out before spending shop rates for someone to do the same. No luck so far, though. May take it back next week. Any suggestions for here in Victoria. I may go up to Coombs if need be - in the daylight hours that is.
