Yup its normal. The TardisDeli also leaks from the turbo, discovered this week when got new alternator at CVI. Edwin pointed it out me, says its a just a Delica Thing and no problem. I confirmed with MardyDelica, yup just a Delica thing. Reason it's OK is because it is leaking after the fuel gets injected etc, so doesnt affect the pressurised fuel system. Due to the cost and time to replace a turbo they say just keep using it and be aware, and if bad noises like cracking plastic happen, then need new turbo.
How many people actually crawl under to check this, I wonder how many have leak.
Christine.

The Miss Lil' Bitchi has a small turbo leak. It comes from idling for long periods of time at normal idle revs. I was talking to Garyo about this and he informed me that up north where they idle the trucks for long periods of time they set the throttle so the engine is idling at 1,100 RPM and this takes the stress off the turbo. When I get home at night I set my throttle to 1,100 RPM and let it run for a minute. Kind of like my own personal (manual) turbo timer... smiles ~ and I leave the throttle set at that speed for when I start her up in the morning. Although it is not high on my list of priorities I will rebuild the turbo because it seems to me that if there is a leak then there is a potential lack of pressure which would lead me to presume that it would effect the power performance as well as the mileage in the long run.
Would anyone know more about that?
Falco.

It's very common on the 4D56's.

When I asked if "Anyone know more about that" I wasn't referring to the fuel system ~ I was asking about the pressure seals and performance of the turbocharger itself.

Pressure seals are just like most. Do the job providing they are in good condition.
Performance of the little turbo's are less than adequate but they do their job as most Delica/Pajero owner's are familiar with.
The only downside to these one's are the small size and fragile blades.
An intercooler like on the Pajero's make a bit more use out of the turbo.

Yup I've got this leak too, have always had it... mechanic for some reason replaced the valve cover thinking that was the issue, still a minor leak. Not enough to be seen on the ground or affect the oil level or anything, just oily down there :)

It can be reached from under the driver's seat, Greenme@u, located on the right (or starboard) side of the valve cover. One of these days I am going to have a go at it... after I've done a little reading up on it.

yup thats what mine is like although my engine is dirtier than yours :) I get the sad little drop of oil right there on the bottom of the turbo.
