Trouble shooting help needed my van died in Mexico!

My 92 Exceed died the other day in Mexico. I was driving at night and it just lost all power and that was it. It cranks but doesn't start. Any advice? Direction?

Could be a few things, is the fuel filter plugged? Is there power to the fuel shut off solenoid? (not sure how it works on the Delica, but fuel shut off is electric.) Timing belt? But if it died you would have heard other bad noises...... Air leak at the injector pump. These are a couple of things off the top of my head, anyone else got any other ideas?

if it cranks but won't start it's not the timing belt... mine behaved that way when the head cracked... (hope that's not the case for you!)
could also be a fuel delivery problem (fuel shutoff solenoid, air in the lines, out of fuel, clogged filter)

99% of the time it's fuel delivery *cross your fingers*
most mechanic's down there should be able to work on it. not much different than that diesel rigs there
where in Mex are you ? Tried green angels ?

Just to elaborate further, Diesel engines are quite simple things really, if it cranks but won't start there are only 2 things that can possibly be wrong with it... one is fuel, the other is compression.

Your engine is missing one of those 2, hard to guess at which one from the other end of the keyboard, but I hope for your sake it's the fuel (much easier and cheaper to fix on average)

One thing that I didn't mention earlier is that if you have filled at any questionable diesel stations down there there is a reasonably good chance of clogging the fuel filter, might be worth checking that, it's a simple fix if that's the case.
