BCAA Inspection reports

Post by GWr »

Could the mechanics, or anyone who has automobile repair knowledge comment on this please???? Do you believe that the BCAA inspection reports (see a sample here: http://www.bcaa.com/downloads/VIS_Report_Sample.pdf ) are of any value in purchasing or even maintaining one of these diesel/RHD vehicles? Granted if the inspector is only vaguely familiar with RHD vehicles the report may be less accurate, but in general, can these reports be heavily relied upon?

On another note, in a Best case scenario, does anyone know what kinds of things would be done to one of these vehicles in preparation for selling by a dealership that was not a full service dealership?

Thanks in advance for commenting!

I can't see why they wouldn't be helpful.
rhd or not, every car has a list of similar components, and the BCAA mechanics are trained to deal with a wide spectrum of just about anything on the road.
In my experience (with non-RHD inspections) they do a solid job.

If you are buying from a dealer:
Best case - they send it to a qualified mechanic, like CVI or Japanoid, and get their mechanics to service it.
Worst case - they do what is the bare minimum to pass inspection, and sell it to you with a smile on their face.

If you are buying from an importer:
Same best case
Worst case (unless you knew beforehand and agreed to it to save money) - they don't do anything except call you and tell you your vehicle is in

Check with the dealer. We bought from Japanoid and they showed us the 75-point inspection they did, what they fixed, why they fixed, what they left alone, etc. There was one thing that we had done by CVI with their deli-tune (ultrasonic cleaning of injectors) but Japanoid is a full service dealer.

If they don't do an inspection of any sort, or can't show you an inspection report, buyer beware. Best case scenario, they are honest folks who sell you a great vehicle.
