Front seat bed - Delica sleeps three
As was asked, here's pictures of our front bed in our old Delica. Has worked very well, even Randi has laid on it to relax. The door skins originally had a upward curve, allowing the front doors to be opened and closed well set up. Moisture has curved the plywood the other way, requiring the bed to be held up to close the front doors. Not a problem as we have always loaded the bed from the back, where the parts are stored. The plywood ends rest on the doors arm rests.

S L I C K !
As I was reading that, I was thinking about just having seen a VW cot a couple of weekends ago at the Volksfest here in Victoria. I never knew that was available, and I thought it was awesome. VW and Mitsubishi are way ahead of their times with these vans as far as possibilities.

Nice work. I'm planning on doing something similar but higher up, with one side on top of the seat backs (holes or slots going around the headrest supports or posts custom built to go into the holes) and feet that sit on the dash. This would be more cramped for headroom but this one is intended for the kids and the fewer things in the way or within reach in the night the better me thinks :)
I will post pics when I get around to actually doing.

Re: Front seat bed - Delica sleeps three
Thanks guys, our first westie came with the hardware but no hammock. It was quite a easy thing to build for the westie, but so was the one in the Delica. The Delica bed I made was bigger and easier to get in and out of then the westie front hammock. This bed, with a 4 inch foamie, doesn't have much head room already; but if your kids are small it'll certainly work. Please post some pictures!
And someone in our family is nervous about bears well camping in the boonies, but I won't mention her name.

ya they are 3.5 and 1.5 so head room isn't much of an issue, I think that it being higher will help it feel like a fort for them too :)

Delica sleeps five.
Found out that my old vans new family slept 5 inside the van for one night! My back bed frame was built high enough for full veggie jugs to slid underneath, so two kids slept 'downstairs'.
Too cool
