Reason #237 why I love our Delica

Post by The Pinkfingers »

Driving home from work in the pouring rain, and had to mail a letter. See the mailbox ahead, and no one on the road or curb. Drive up the curb, stop within a foot of the mailbox, lean out the window and drop the letter in the box. Drive on home, still all dry.

Here's another one for you.

When I get to a light activated by bike/pedestrian I'm usually able to pull by the curve and push the button to get the light going green... Beats getting out of your truck and running to press it!

For an RHD plus, if ya ever get pulled over you can tell the cop you prefer the RHD so in these situations they can talk to you (check you out :? ) on the much safer side of your vehicle - I just cringe when I see those guys out there in the middle of the road - at night  - dressed in dark blue :?
And a delica plus that's not RHD is the 4x4! Our bus has manual locking hubs which usually requires getting out and walking around the vehicle leaning down at each front wheel to click them in. With the delica's cab-over set-up we only need to open the door and reach down to access the hubs. Even driving solo, if it's miserable outside, it's easy to slip over to the passenger side to engage the hub over there :-) And the 4x4 can be useful for more than snow and back-country recreation. The city has been digging up our road since April and only at the 11th hour did someone figure out our driveway is steep and the new, wider road is an issue. After a few onsite visits from the white-hats they tore up our concrete, dumped 8 yards of gravel in a big pile and left for the weekend. By yesterday after work they had used up enough of that pile that I could rake it out a bit and back in. This morning at 7am I had to move out so another big truck could dump another 8 yards that won't be used until MONDAY :x We are taking the day off so I was out there hand bombing that pile of gravel off to the side when about a third of the way through the pile one of the Wacor guys driving by in a backhoe stopped and finished the job for me - Thanks to him I have my day-off back! Anyway, it sure is nice to have the delica in this situation. The old Nissan would have worked as well, but anything but a 4x4 and we'd be weeks out on the road, lugging tools back and forth over piles of gravel and way more worried about theft/vandalism leaving the rig out on the street. Love my 4x4 bus!!
